He walked in my life not only at the perfect moment but willingly to take responsibility for a child he had no blood relation to, and that’s not something many do, but I’m blessed that he did. I may not show it or tell you enough, but dad, I’m thankful for EVERYTHING you have sacrificed to be in my life and show me just how important hard work and education is. You did more than I will and have ever deserved. Some in the United States seem to forget one thing, this will always be my home, and it will always be my family’s home, regardless of where we were born, America is home. There’s this constant fear in America, that immigrants are a national threat to our national security, but I’ve seen immigrants build this country up, because this is home. The thing that’s most misconstrued, is that this whole immigration thing is “Easy”. Power becomes dangerous in the wrong hands of people, we all know that. There comes a time that you worry Day end and day out of fear. Fear that at any given moment someone who has been there from the start can be taken away in just a blink of an eye. You isolate yourself and fall off the face of the earth just out of fear of not knowing where and when things could go wrong for the ones you love. You carry a weight on your shoulder. A weight i would not wish on any enemy. You want to make sure your family knows, everything they have sacrificed, is worth it. There’s no room for failure. You start to feel like a second class citizen, when you are the farthest thing away from it. No one will truly know the walk of a child from a immigrant, and that’s okay. I have a lot of pride. Pride from my father. Pride in my culture. & pride for myself. That’s what makes me proud of America. Different people, with different back grounds brings different things to the table. In just shy of a month, my father will be standing in front of a judge to find out whether he is able to stay in a place he has known as home for the past 30+ years, or be sent back to place without his daughters. I am who I am because of my background and my roots. In ending, I know this may be a risk to post such personal items on a blog, but I rather use my platform to stand up for someone and something I believe in, then fall for nothing
